WhatsApp scam warning – If you get this message from Legoland DO NOT open it | Tech | Life & Style


Millions of UK users are being warned to stay alert after another shocking new scam has been uncovered.

The latest fake message to target fans of the popular app claims to come from Legoland with it offering 5 free tickets to 500 families.

Once users click on the link they are taken to a website which gets them to answer questions before finally asking for personal details to be entered.

The shocking scam even includes fake Facebook posts from supposed winners of tickets and a countdown clock which appears to show tickets slowly being won.

Legoland has confirmed that this is not an official post or competition from them and has warned customers to be wary of the offer.

In a statement on their website, Legoland said: “WARNING: We’re aware of a ticket offer being shared on Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter that claims to be from LEGOLAND Windsor Resort.

“This is NOT a genuine offer, or in any way affiliated with LEGOLAND Windsor Resort.

“The offer claims to be giving away tickets free tickets – this is NOT the case and it’s actually a phishing scam aimed at getting hold of your personal information.

“Action is being taken to remove fake offer and we urge guests not to share their personal details or forward the offer to their contacts. The safest way to buy tickets is always to go directly to our website www.legoland.co.uk.

This latest scam comes just a few days .

The theme park also put out a warning saying: “We are aware of a ticket offer being shared on social media that claims to be from Alton Towers Resort.

“This is NOT a genuine offer, or in any way affiliated with Alton Towers.

 Ryanair was also hit by a similar hoax which claimed that people had won two free tickets on the airline.

WhatsApp advises users sent hoax messages “to block the sender, disregard the message and delete it” and they should “never forward” it.

You can also report the scam to Action Fraud, the UK’s national fraud and cyber crime reporting centre.
