A video emerged afterwards that was taken by a train in the local area.
It shows the plane having parked on the road, with a number of emergency vehicles behind it.
Thankfully, due to good weather at the time, the landing was made safely.
A recording obtained by CBC News heard the pilot requesting to land: “I’ve just lost the right fuel pump, that’s why we’re requesting 35 right.”
The Fire Department credited the pilot who, with six other passengers onboard, did an “amazing job” landing the plane.
A series of viral videos has captured a plane being forced to land on a busy highway.
The plane, a small Mustang II, made the decision to land on the busy road after a mechanical failure.
Filmed in Calgary, Canada, CCTV footage has revealed the moment the small plane flew low through the skies before landing.
A number of vehicles can be seen driving down the busy roads.
Thankfully, the pilot and other road users were unhurt.
The latter video has already racked up 574,000 views in just 12 hours, shocking many online.
One couldn’t resists a pun: “Well that’s just plane rude, parking in the middle of the road like that.”
Others asked how they would remove the plane, with one suggesting that they “often let them take off again”.
However, this plane ended up clipping a portion of the wing off in the landing, so it would most likely be broken down and transported by another vehicle., something confirmed by the fire department.
One person was rather obvious to the whole event: “So that’s why the roads were clogged when my flight came in.”
Transportation Safety Board investigator Mike Adam told CBC: “We will be collecting data, we’ll conduct witness interviews, we’ll examine and photograph the wreckage.”
“We’ll also examine the maintenance history, meteorological conditions, operation of the equipment, operation policies, and regulation requirements.”
News outlet Global News later revealed that two other small aircrafts were forced to do the same emergency landing on a road, one in Quebec and another in Calgary, within 72 hours.
The Transportation Safety Board is reportedly looking into the three separate incidents but no link has been suggested.
