08:52 UPDATE: Manchester United transfer boost
Mauro Icardi will NOT be heading to Atletico Madrid in the summer – in a revelation that will serve as a massive boost for suitors Manchester United.
Icardi is wanted by a host of clubs and the striker is stalling on signing a new contract at Inter Milan.
But Tuttomercatoweb and Sky Sport Italia are reporting that Atletico are not pushing for a deal, despite rumours in the Spanish media.
It means United would likely have a straight-up battle with Real Madrid – Atletico’s city rivals – to sign the Argentina international.
Icardi has a £100m release clause that will be open for two weeks this summer – but neither United nor Real are willing to go that high.

Camacho, 18, could leave this summer and is attracting the attention of a number of clubs.

Camacho’s current contract expires in the summer of 2020.
Transfer news LIVE: Thorgan Hazard could end up at Liverpool
07:59 UPDATE: Hazard to Liverpool
Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard wants to join Borussia Dortmund – but the Belgian’s club would prefer him to move to Liverpool.
That is according to Nieuwsblad, who claim Liverpool are ready to offer in excess of the £38m (€42m) fee Dortmund would meet.
Hazard – the younger brother of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard – supposedly prefers to stay in the Bundesliga.
But a move to Liverpool could well be on the cards if his club get their wish.
07:44 UPDATE: Gundogan to Inter Milan or Bayern
Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan will NOT be signing a new contract at the club, report the Mirror.
And the revelation has caught the attention of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
Gundogan’s current City deal expires in 2020 and the playmaker could therefore be sold this summer.
A move to Munich may appeal to the Germany international, but Inter could also swoop should City put him on the market.
Transfer news LIVE: Eden Hazard could end up at Real Madrid
07:12 UPDATE: Hazard to Real Madrid latest
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has ducked more questions over his future as Real Madrid eye a summer deal.
“I’m just focused on Chelsea,” Hazard told ESPN.
“One month to play, top four, try to win the Europa League. For the fans I think the most important thing is when they see me on the pitch they just think that my head is with Chelsea – so we’ll see after.
“Two years in a row not playing Champions League is hard for the players but also for the club – Chelsea has to play in Champions League every year, but it’s hard because we are not the only team that is trying to play Champions League.
“But that’s why we are doing everything at the moment to try and stay in the top four.”
Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd are set to hand Marcus Rashford a new contract
06:49 UPDATE: Rashford deal backed
Gary Neville has backed Marcus Rashford to sign a new contract at Manchester United.
“[Solskjaer] needs big money unless they can cash in on someone who is worth big money – there’s David de Gea and Paul Pogba, who is reportedly being courted by Real Madrid,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“The two I’d be worried about are De Gea and Marcus Rashford. There’s talk about both of them not signing a new deal but I think Rashford will sign, that’s not in doubt.
“They will have to throw money at it. However, it’s not as bad as everyone makes out.”
Transfer news LIVE: Ivan Perisic is being chased by Arsenal and Tottenham
06:22 UPDATE: Arsenal eye Ivan Perisic
Arsenal will push to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan once the transfer window opens.
But the Gunners may face competition from Tottenham to get the deal done – Corriere dello Sport report.
Perisic was last season wanted at Manchester United but then-manager Jose Mourinho could not get the board to conclude a deal.
The 30-year-old World Cup finalist could well arrive in north London this summer – although Arsenal or Spurs would have to pay big money for the playmaker who is well under contract at the San Siro.
Transfer news LIVE: Celtic could appoint Neil Lennon as their permanent manager
06:00 UPDATE: Celtic need Lennon deal
Celtic have been urged to dispel the possibility of player unease in the transfer window by handing manager Neil Lennon a permanent contract.
Lennon has stepped in to replace Brendan Rodgers until the end of the season.
But Callum McGregor wants the Hoops to back the manager full time.
“The club have to get the appointment right, whatever way they want to go about that and get it done,” he said.
“But the players and staff and everyone around the club want to know as soon as possible so you have the continuity going into next season.
“Whatever the board decides, as soon as the players find out it calms everyone down and gives the club a focus. The sooner it is better for everyone.
“The new season comes pretty quickly. You only have three to four weeks off and then it’s straight back into the big games again.”
