08:25 UPDATE: Rangers deal off
Rangers will not be signing Motherwell’s Jake Hastie and manager Stephen Robinson is delighted to put the rumours to bed.
“He was only linked by you guys,” said Robinson.
“Apparently he signed three weeks ago and now he’s not signed. I’m sure plenty of people will be coming to watch our players again.
“I don’t care about the speculation, I don’t care who they are linked with, they are contracted to Motherwell.”
08:10 UPDATE: Celtic in dark over Dedryck Boyata
Celtic are in the dark over the future of Dedryck Boyata, with Hertha Berlin said to be interested in the defender.
The Daily Record report that Celtic have not been informed about Hertha’s intentions for Boyata this summer.
The Hoops want to keep the 28-year-old but his contract expires at the end of the season.
Boyata’s agents are not allowed to discuss a potential move with suitors unless they inform Celtic first.
07:30 UPDATE: Real Madrid eye Kepa
Real Madrid are supposedly interested in signing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa after giving up on Manchester United’s David De Gea.
TEAM talk claim Real are turning away from De Gea following United’s £100m transfer demands.
Instead, they are ready to move for Kepa in a deal that would severely impact on Chelsea should it go through.
Whether or not Chelsea would accept a move for their goalkeeper – who replaced Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge – it remains to be seen.
07:18 UPDATE: Arsenal fans demand sale
Arsenal fans want Nacho Monreal this summer after his performance in the 1-0 defeat to Everton.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Does anyone know why we left Monreal on?
“Mans finished out here. Jogging back 24/7.”
Another added: “Monreal should never play again.”
“As much as I have appreciated Monreal he is starting to look 80 years old. #afc #arsenal #EVEARS,” a fellow supporter said.
06:56 UPDATE: Man Utd to copy Liverpool
Manchester United will copy Liverpool’s approach to defensive rebuilding and are ready to break the transfer record to land the players they want.
Liverpool smashed the world record transfer fee for a defender in January 2018 when signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a £75m deal.
Goalkeeper Alisson was bought from Roma in the summer for just shy of £67m.
United, meanwhile, failed to land any of their key defensive targets and Jose Mourinho was sacked in December after a dire start to the campaign.
The Evening Standard report that the Red Devils will now use the same approach as Liverpool this summer – and are willing to spend £200m to get the deal done.
06:33 UPDATE: Liverpool warned over bids
Liverpool can expect big-money bids from Barcelona and Real Madrid for Virgil van Dijk this summer.
That’s the warning BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has given.
“Real Madrid and Barcelona must be in frantic talks with their banks about how much it might cost to buy Van Dijk,” Crooks said.
“An audacious bid is bound to happen sooner or later – if it hasn’t already.”
06:00 UPDATE: Sarri wants Chelsea deal
Maurizio Sarri has confirmed Chelsea will push ahead with plans to sign Mateo Kovacic permanently.
Kovacic is currently on loan from Real Madrid and there is an option for the Blues to buy him.
And a deal makes sense, with Chelsea currently under a two-winter transfer embargo imposed by FIFA.
A permanent Kovacic deal would not fall under that embargo as the option was agreed in the initial loan terms.
“I want to try with Kovacic. He is only on loan, of course, but I’d like very much that Kovacic will stay with us,” Sarri said.
“You know very well that, in that position, we have some problems because we have only Jorginho. In my opinion, Kovacic could become a very good central midfielder.”
