Last time the Spice Girls went on a major reunion tour in 2007, each of them also had a solo segment reflecting the individual hits from their solo careers. Posh Spice famously used hers for a runway fashion segment and did not sing. This time, the iconic girl band has reunited for a series of stadium shows in May and June, but Victoria Beckham won’t appear at all. However, she will still rake in “millions” according to reports. Why?
A shock new leak claims Beckham will bank “£2.5 million ‘plus'”.
This is because all five members of the band have joint rights to Spice Girls income, including ticket sales and merchandise from the tour.
The same sources estimate the other four members – Geri, Emma, Mel B and Mel C – could make between “£6million and £10 million each.”
Beckham is already by far the wealthiest of the group, her combined worth with husband David is currently estimated at £240 million.
The other four have continued to sporadically pursue their interest in music, as well as other high-profile presenting jobs on television, but Beckham has not performed for years.
Although the designer is committed these days to her fashion empire, she admitted she has mixed feelings about not taking part in the tour.
Asked if she regretted her decision, she said: “Not at all. What I do now is my passion and a full-time job.
“I’m excited to see it, though. And I’m sure when I’m there and they are on stage, there will be a part of me that feels a bit left out.”
The Spice Girls’ tour, meanwhile, kicks off on May 24 in Dublin before the UK leg starts on May 27 in Cardiff.
The girls will then play three shows at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, two in Coventry, two in Sunderland, one each in Edinburgh and Bristol before ending at Wembley Stadium for three nights on June 8, 10 and 13.
