Sainsbury’s Sunday opening times: What time does Sainsbury’s open on a Sunday? | UK | News

Brits across the country will likely be waking this morning eager for the day ahead.

And many will already be looking forward to the traditional British Sunday roast, complete with all the trimmings.

But for those of you who forgot to get their shopping in yesterday, you could face a quick dash to the shops only to find your local store is closed – thanks to the  Sunday Trading Act 1994.

The law means large shops and supermarkets in England and Wales can open on Sundays – but only for six consecutive hours between 10am and 6pm.

What time does Sainsbury’s open on a Sunday?

The Sunday Trading Act 1994 does not apply to ‘small shops’ – which are those under or equal to 280 square metres (3,000 square feet).

This is why you can find some off-licenses and smaller local chain supermarkets open outside of these hours.

And means your Sainsbury’s Local could still be open until 10pm or 11pm, even on a Sunday.

But for your local big supermarket, they are likely to open between these hours:

  • 10am and 4pm
  • 11am and 5pm
  • 12pm and 6pm

To find out what time your local supermarket is open today, you can head to the Sainsbury’s store locator here.
