A new report by McGregor gardening experts and hybrid estate agents Emoov has revealed the five simple changes that can add as much as £5,000 to the value of a UK home.
According to the report, simple and small changes such as mowing the lawn and trimming the hedge can all add value to properties, making a difference when putting a house on the market.
McGregor and Emoov got a home valued before making the changes and after, and the value increased by a whopping £5000.
“House hunters generally take about ten seconds to decide on a house, a decision often made on first impressions from the doorstep, so every effort makes a difference,” said Emoov local property agent, James Kenyon.
“Viewers want their home to be Instagram-worthy, to buy a lifestyle not just a house. Therefore, a well-pruned garden could be the deciding factor on whether to buy or not to buy!” James continued.
Andrea Derrick, Brand Manager at McGregor added: “It’s the simple changes that anyone can do that add value to your property.
“Investing in a good lawnmower can cost as little as £60 and easily deliver a huge return. Whether you decide to move or improve your property, making sure your home is in the best condition will maximise its ‘kerb appeal’, making you feel great whenever you’re home.”
During the test home’s transformation, the over-grown garden was tackled, with the team moving the lawn, pressure washing the pavements, weeding, trimming the bushes and creating some new flower beds to add a touch of colour.
Other transformations that can add value to Briton’s homes include adding pretty window boxes, a painted fence and brand-new garden furniture, all available at little cost.
