The 2018 NBA Draft gets underway this evening and it is set to be a fascinating evening.

DeAnndre Ayrton looks to be the favourite to be selected as the No 1 overall pick by the Phoenix Suns but it’s not a foregone conclusion.

Luka Doncic is also another name that has grabbed the attention of many for his performances in the EuroLeague over the past two seasons.

It has ben touted as a deep draft and there could be some surprises with who teams select throughout the night.

Another thing to keep an eye on will be trades conducted by teams as they either look to move up in the draft or aim to improve their roster.

12:15am: There is some chatter that the Mavericks are trying to move up to the No 3 pick, currently held by the Hawks, where they want to select Luka Doncic.

The European phenom is seen as a top prospect and could be a ready-made NBA star.

Atlanta are reportedly listening to trade offers including Kent Bazemore but Dallas are said to be unwilling to trade their No 5 pick and Wes Matthews for that package.

12:00am: We’re just moments away from the Phoenix Suns being on the clock. It is the first time in franchise history they have had the No 1 pick and they are widely expected to select Arizona’s DeAndre Ayton.

The 2018 draft is being held in the Brooklyn Center for the sixth consecutive year. (Just a shame those years have been void of any No 1 picks for the Nets… Sorry Brooklyn fans!)
