Meghan, 37, is due to give birth any day now but the royal couple will not share details about the tot until they have had time to “celebrate privately”.
Meghan and Harry’s household said in a statement: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.
“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.
“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
As Meghan’s due date approaches, speculation has been mounting over where she will give birth and if she will pose outside the hospital like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
Earlier this week, one of Meghan’s friends claimed she was hoping to have a home birth at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor after “sailing” through her pregnancy.
The insider told the Daily Mail: “It is her favoured choice but it obviously depends on how things are nearer the time.”
Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, where the Countess of Wessex gave birth to her children, has also been suggested as an option.
Meghan is thought to have ruled out the Lindo Wing, favoured by the Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Diana, over privacy fears.
This is a breaking story. More to follow.
