Speaking on Ellen DeGeneres on Monday, the TV star spoke of how a nine-year-old Meghan would often come to set following school. Her father Thomas worked on 1980s US TV hit “Married with Children” as a camera operator and therefore his daughter would come to set straight after school. Star of the show, Mr O’Neill spoke of how the Duchess of Sussex would always appear, something which Meghan has spoken about in the past.
Speaking on the TV show, Mr O’Neill said: “She grew up on the set of Married With Children. Did you know that?’
“Her father was a camera operator.
“She used to come on the set in a little Catholic school uniform. She was like nine.”
Her father worked on the TV series for 10 of the 11 seasons.
He started off on the show as a lighting director and then as a director of photography.
Last year, Meghan had opened up on her early years spent on the TV set of the hit show.
In an interview with Esquire, she said: “Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of Married With Children, which is a really funny and perverse place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to grow up.
“There were a lot of times my dad would say, ‘Meg, why don’t you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-colour for your 11-year-old eyes’.”
Mr O’Neill’s recent comments come as the Duchess prepares for the birth of her first child with Prince Harry.
The pair will welcome their first child later this month and according to reports, they will break tradition by not having the child at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.
Princess Diana gave birth to both William and Harry in the hospital, as did Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
In a further break, Meghan and Harry have moved into their freshly renovated Frogmore Cottage after leaving Kensington Palace.
