However, the secret could now be out after what appeared to be a major slip-up by close friend and tennis star Serena Williams. Meghan, who is around eight months pregnant, is due to give birth by the end of April to beginning of May. Bookies have placed bets on the baby’s gender – but Serena William’s interview slip up has now slashed odds on a baby girl. Tennis star Serena Williams made the shocking revelation in an interview with E! News, using the word “she” when referring to a friend’s baby.
Ms Williams and Meghan are known to be close friends, and the tennis star recently threw a luxurious baby shower for the Duchess in New York.
Ms Williams, who is mother to 1-year-old Olympia Ohanian, also offered advice to new mothers: “Accept mistakes and don’t expect to be perfect. We put so much pressure on ourselves.”
“My friend is pregnant and she’s like, ‘Oh, my kid’s gonna do this,’ and I just looked at her and I was like, ‘No, she’s not.’ I’m like, ‘No, you’re not.’
“Everything is not gonna go as planned. You just gotta go with the flow.”
Ms Williams did not refer to Meghan directly, but quickly tried to change the subject after what appeared to be a slip up.
According to Ladbrokes, odds on a baby girl have dropped from 8/13 to 4/7 overnight.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Royal punters are looking for any slip-ups and Serena might just have given them one.
“We’re taking no chances and have slashed odds on a girl as a result.”
The tennis star co-hosted Meghan’s luxurious baby shower in New York last month, which reportedly cost almost half a million pounds.
The lavish event was held at the £66,000-a-night Mark Hotel in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Meghan invited 17 guests to the baby shower, including A-lister Amal Clooney who also co-hosted the event.
During her trip to the Big Apple, Meghan was spotted shopping at high-end boutiques and dining at posh restaurants with friends.
She also travelled on the luxurious Gulfstream G450 twin jet plane to and from New York, with a round trip costing a staggering £98,500.
Meghan and Harry have moved into their new home in Frogmore Cottage, just weeks before the arrival of their baby.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are adding the final touches to their new home, and have enlisted the help of Victoria Beckham who is now in charge of the interior design work.
The Grade-II listed property has undergone extensive renovations to include a nursery and live-in space for a nanny.
Meghan, who is a long-standing advocate for the environment, has even included a £50,000 green energy unit which will supply heating, hot water and electricity.
The renovation work is expected to cost an astonishing £3 million funded by the taxpayer, but it is understood that the Duke and Duchess will pay for the interior decorations.
