Daniel Martin sparked speculation over Baby Sussex’s expected date of arrival when he posted a message on Instagram about his upcoming appearance at an industry event in New York. Mr Martin, the Duchess of Sussex’s close friend and wedding makeup artist, told his 124,000 followers he will be a guest at The MakeupShow in the Big Apple on May 5. The announcement has sparked suggestion Meghan, 37, who is expected to turn to Mr Martin for her post-birth makeup, will have given birth by then.
The former actress’s pal was spotted in the central London entertainment district of London, before heading to Windsor earlier this month, causing royal fans to believe he had flown in from the US to be on hand during Meghan’s final weeks of pregnancy.
In an Instagram post, he said: “I’m very excited to share that I’ll be making my first ever main stage appearance @themakeupshow on Sunday, May 5th from 10am-11:30am (link in bio).
“I’ll be sharing my journey, doing makeup, tips and tricks and spilling the tea on some of my favorite products in my kit!”
He then posted a picture from central Windsor on his Instagram stories, with the caption “Hmmmm”.
Mr Martin, who is based in New York, was catapulted into the spotlight after he was revealed as the man behind Meghan’s natural look for her May 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, 34.
Meghan was applauded by royal fans for allowing her freckles to be on show on her big day.
After meeting the duchess in 2011, the two hit it off and Mr Martin was invited to Meghan’s exclusive baby shower in New York.
Mr Martin became a regular contributor to Meghan’s lifestyle blog, The Tig, before Meghan shut it down when she became engaged to the Queen’s grandson.
In an interview with Elle he said: “Generally, i think if you keep your skin looking like your skin people won’t notice your make-up – they’ll notice you.”
In January, Mr Martin sent royal fans into a frenzy when he posted a snap of a lunch served up by Meghan at their catchup in London – avocado on toast, chocolate truffles and tea.
Meghan will not follow in Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge’s footsteps by posing for pictures outside hospital with her newborn children.
She and Harry last week said they would celebrate in private.
As Meghan is reported to be planning a home birth, it is not known when or where her first post-birth appearance will be.
Regardless of how the new mum chooses to introduce her newborn, Meghan will undoubtedly be keen to look her best as the eyes of the nation will be on her.
Buckingham Palace announced last week the couple “look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family”.
Meghan is in the final stages of her pregnancy and is keeping a low profile as she settles in to her new home, Frogmore Cottage.
