There are already millions of followers for Meghan and Harry’s new Instagram account. It seemed a safe handle, @sussexroyal. But, it blew through the roof when, within the first six minutes it gained more than 8,000 followers.
By surpassing one million within six hours it had already broken the Guinness world record.
This then rocketed to more than four million by the end of the week.
The announcement by Kensington Palace said: “Welcome to Instagram, @SussexRoyal!
“Follow @SussexRoyal for more on the work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
The frenzy continues with millions of pounds in bets over the sex or name of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ unborn baby beating.
If the baby is a girl, Diana is the bookies favourite.
Expected at the end of this month or early May, the imminent arrival of the royal baby Sussex has unleashed more action at the bookmakers than the birth of any previous royal baby.
The betting frenzy as the baby’s due date comes closer compares only to that reached over the couple’s 2018 wedding that surpassed £3.5 million.
The interest over the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton did not see the same levels of mania.
That’s more than three times the three million pounds that, according to the website Bookmakers, was wagered before the births of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis of Cambridge, the children of William, future King of England.
The betting frenzy as the baby’s due date comes closer compares only to that reached over the couple’s 2018 wedding that surpassed £3.5 million , which also broke the royal wedding record.
Meghan’s pregnancy has been studied profusely on a daily basis by the global press.
