Man Utd transfer news: Luke Shaw given five games to save Old Trafford career | Football | Sport

Shaw’s future at Manchester United has appeared to be increasingly uncertain over the past few months and he has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Mourinho wants to revamp his defence and has been continually monitoring Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.

Aside from Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind seem to be heading for the Old Trafford exit door.

But according to The Sun, Shaw has a chance to resurrect his Red Devils career.

The report suggests Mourinho will unleash Shaw during United’s pre-season tour of the States.

It is said the Portuguese tactician thinks Shaw still can be the club’s long-term solution on the left hand side of defence.

Shaw, who was overlooked for England’s World Cup squad, appeared to be out of shape while on holiday in Ibiza last month.

He is currently into the final 12 months of his deal and the tour will be a big one for him going forward.

Mourinho was very critical of the player last season and hooked him off against Brighton in the FA Cup in March.

He said: “Every player can play bad but when you see, ‘Please mister, take me from the pitch. That is what I thought.’”
