Marcus Rashford questioned in Romelu Lukaku comparison
Marcus Rashford does not have the anticipation to be goalscoring centre-forward for a club like Manchester United, claims ex-England striker Darren Bent.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did score a lot of goals himself so he knows the positions to take up to score goals,” Bent said on talkSPORT.
“That you can teach to someone, you can say to them ‘well listen, when the ball’s here, make sure you get yourself around this area’.
“There’s certain things you can’t teach a striker, like anticipation – you just having this thought that the ball’s going to drop there, I’m going to take a chance’.
“For nine times it might not happen but you just keep getting in there and the one time it drops, you put it in the net.
“I think you can’t teach that. With centre-forwards I believe it’s either in you or it’s not.
“[Romelu] Lukaku, he had it in him.
“Yeah I know he had a tough time towards the end at Manchester United but he’s a killer, he wants to score goals.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants four signings
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign four players.
The Red Devils had a fruitful summer transfer window, securing the signatures of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.
But Solskjaer believes Manchester United need more and the Evening Standard say Woodward has decided the Red Devils manager will be given time to turn his side around.
United were always aware it would take more than one transfer window to transform the team.
Declan Rice signing backed
Man Utd have been urged to sign West Ham star Declan Rice by Jamie O’Hara.
“Yeah [United need to strengthen in midfield] hugely,” O’Hara said on The Debate.
“I think they need to go out and buy someone like Declan Rice.
“For me, someone like him is going to change them because what they haven’t got now is the player, like they had [Michael] Carrick, they had [Paul] Scholes, who made the team play, who made them tick.
“They’ve got [Scott] McTominay, they’ve got [Paul] Pogba, they’re attacking. [Nemanja] Matic for me isn’t the player he was at Chelsea and Fred hasn’t done it.
“So for me they need to bring in a CDM who gets on the ball, makes them play and starts attacks.”
Paul Pogba swap deal?
Man Utd could agree a player-plus-cash deal involving Paul Pobga and Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos this summer, Spanish transfer guru Eduardo Inda claims.
“Zidane has an obsession, which is still Pogba. The French coach is a person of fixed ideas and insists on Paul,” Inda said.
“They will try in January and there have already been the first contacts with United.
“In the conversations that still exist between Madrid and United, a name has been put: Toni Kroos.
“United tried to sign Toni Kroos this summer and it is the one that would put Manchester as a condition.
“For him they offered this summer 75 million and that caused its renewal with the white team.”
