James Bond is one of the best loved spies in literature and film. In recent years, Daniel Craig has brought him to the screen as the sixth Bond. But could a woman take on the mantle as No. 7?
What are the odds on James Bond being a woman?
According to Paddy Power, the odds are 2/1 that the next 007 agent is confirmed as female and will take over from Daniel Craig after No Time To Die is released next year.
Coral has put the odds at 5/1, meaning it does look like this could be something that may actually happen.
This comes after Pierce Brosnan openly said he would welcome a female Bond in future films.
He told the Hollywood Reporter: “Yes! I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there.
“I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.”
According to Paddy Power, the odds are as follows:
6/1 Lashana Lynch
3/1 Emily Blunt
8/1 Charlize Theron
12/1 Lupita Nyong’o
7/1 Naomie Harris
25/1 Lauren Cohan
Lashana has already been confirmed for No Time To Die and will be playing the spy who has taken over Bond’s 007 name.
However, some believe this means she will take on the mantle of Bond in later films.
While Paddy Power has a number of women in the mix for the role, Coral odds still sit mainly with men, with names such as Richard Madden and Tom Hiddleston in the running.
Their odds include names such as:
5/2 Richard Madden
4/1 Tom Hiddleston
5/1 Any female actress
5/1 Cillian Murphy
6/1 Idris Elba
6/1 James Norton
7/1 Tom Hardy
10/1 Jack Lowden
12/1 Any Female
16/1 Henry Cavill
20/1 Chris Hemsworth
20/1 Damian Lewis
At the moment there are no named actresses in their list, and Idris Elba is the only non-white actor.
In the Paddy Power list, there are three non-white actresses, including Moneypenny Naomie Harris.
No Time To Die is out in cinemas on April 3, 2020
