Harry Redknapp took his frustration out on Alexa, a smart-home device, after struggling to get the appliance to listen to him. The 72-year-old I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! champion had tried to use the gadget to request a recipe, but had trouble getting it to understand him. On a recent episode of ITV’s Hard to Please OAPs, the father-of-two asked the machine for instructions to make scones. Crouching down next to Alexa, he commanded: “Could you give us the recipe for making scones.”
However, the device offered a recipe for chicken stew instead, stunning the football manager and his co-stars June Brown and Michael Whitehall.
“We don’t want stew,” Harry continued, before slowly repeating: “Alexa… we would like the recipe for making scones.”
When the device failed to comprehend what he was saying again, the TV star flew into an angry rant and began shouting at it.
“No! Sod it, we don’t want bleeding chicken stew you silly cow. We want scones,” he screamed.
The virtual assistant then offered to instruct him on how to make the snack with orange and cinnamon spread.
Earlier in the show, EastEnders legend, June, vented about her male counterparts as she groaned about her own troubles with the machines.
Speaking to camera, she said: “I can’t work machines and those two men are useless,” before running to Harry for help.
Of course, fans of I’m A Celebrity will remember the sportsman admitted to being terrible in the kitchen and said his beloved wife, Sandra Harris, does all his cooking.
Harry melted the hearts of the public when he gushed about his spouse during his time in the Australian jungle.
Sandra admitted at the time that his kind words embarrassed her, with her saying: “It has been quite hard to watch him.
“He just doesn’t realise that everybody is hearing him say things and talking about me, it’s quite embarrassing really.”
She went on to tell The Sun: “He doesn’t realise the public are seeing him saying things, which is very nice.
“It’s very flattering after 54 years. You don’t often hear him say things, so to hear him say that is really nice.”
Harry and Sandra tied the knot in 1967 and are parents to Jamie, 45, and Mark, 49.
Football pundit Jamie, who separated from his wife Louise Redknapp in 2017, is rumoured to be dating British model Lizzie Bowden.
Hard to Please OAPs continues next Tuesday on ITV at 8.30pm.
