Google Pixel 3 UPDATE: Great release date news for Android fans

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are arguably two of the most eagerly anticipated Android smartphones being released in the second half of 2018.

The devices have been the subject of much speculation, with rumours the Pixel 3 XL could sport an iPhone X-style notch.

It’s also expected that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be up there with the biggest smartphones that money can buy.

It had been expected that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL would launch in October, as that is when historically Google have unveiled their latest smartphones.

But now one prominent leaker has claimed that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL could launch earlier than that.

Smartphone leaker Ice Universe has a track record of posting accurate information about Samsung phones and other unreleased devices early.

And in his most recent leak Ice Universe has revealed a roadmap for smartphone launches for the rest of 2018.

In a post on Twitter he revealed the launch timetable for almost two dozen different flagship smartphones arriving in the next five months.

And Ice Universe claimed that the Pixel 3 could be launched in September.

Alongside the roadmap the leaker tweeted: “These flagship phones will be released in the second half of 2018, most of them from China.

“Do you think Samsung does not need to be nervous? I don’t think Note9 can make Samsung’s state better.

There are too many competitors.”

Samsung themselves released their Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus handsets early in 2018, and are set to do the same with the Galaxy Note 9.

If Google does decide to release the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in September it would be putting it in direct competition with the next line of iPhones.

Apple each year hold a major conference in September where they unveil their latest iPhones, with the devices going on sale soon afterwards.

In other Pixel 3 news, it emerged this week that a new leak revealed that a new accessory could be launched alongside the next Google smartphone.

9to5Google is reporting that alongside the updated phone will be an accessory called the Pixel Stand.

This dock is thought to be able to add power to the Pixel 3 without the need for wires.

Once placed on the stand users may also set seamless Google Assistant integration even when their phone is locked.

The Pixel 2 doesn’t include wireless charging and that puts it behind some key rivals including Samsung, LG and Apple.

Adding this new way of refilling the device would clearly be a popular move and would certainly make a sense as it will help future-proof the phone.
