George Michael’s grave still has no headstone one year on amid Fadi Fawaz memorial ‘ban’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

The Wham! star died on Christmas Day last year aged 53 at his home in Goring-on-Thames, when he was found by his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz.

His funeral took place in March and he was buried in a private ceremony at Highgate Cemetery, close to his mother’s grace.

However, according to sources and recent photographs Michael’s grave is lacking any markings.

“George’s mother obviously has a big headstone, with a tribute in big letters, but then there’s just this empty space next to it,” an insider claimed.

They went on to tell The Daily Star on Sunday: “There’s brick flower troughs around the area, and clearly space for George next to his mum, but there’s just nothing marking it.

They added: “A year on, that seems very strange.”

Photos show the grave of Michael’s mother Lesley Angold with a cross and her name on a headstone.

However, there is nothing in the plot next to her grave to mark Michael’s final resting place.

The news comes as Michael’s partner Fawaz is said to have been banned from paying a Christmas visit to his lover’s grave.

According to a family friend: “He wasn’t welcome at the funeral, so he isn’t wanted at this.

“It’s being seen by his family as a very personal pilgrimage to pay their respects and they don’t want anyone else involved, even Fadi.”
