This new device is expected to build of Samsung’s class-leading portfolio of smartphones with new features and more power tucked under its hood.
There’s just a few weeks to go until Samsung’s launch event and here’s everything you need to know about the all-new Galaxy S9.
WHAT DEVICES WILL BE UNVEILED?
The Galaxy S9 will be revealed at MWC along with a larger model called the Galaxy S9+.
We are also expecting Samsung to announce more details on its mid-range Galaxy A8 smartphone with full pricing and official release date being revealed.
WHEN WILL THEY LAUNCH?
Samsung has confirmed that its new Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be unveiled at MWC 2018 on Sunday February 25.
The Korean technology firm hasn’t announced a time for the event but it’s expected to start at around 6pm CET – 5pm GMT.
HOW MUCH WILL THE S9 AND S9+ COST?
Official pricing won’t be announced until February 25 but rumours are rife that the S9 will be more expensive than the current Galaxy S8.
A recent leak from a mobile operator in Korea suggests the S9 could be around £50 more expensive than Samsung’s current flagship.
This could mean the standard S9 will set you back around £739 SIM-only and the larger S9+ will push through the £800 barrier.
WHAT WILL BE NEW?
The S9 is expected to bring a host of improvements to its S8 predecessor including a much faster processor and new design which will see the fingerprint scanner moved to the middle of the phone and away from the camera lens.
The S9 is also expected to have a much longer battery life and offer the ability to get a 50 per cent charge in just 15 minutes.
And if you fancy the S9+ this larger phone looks set to feature a dual-lens camera which will be able to add DSLR-style depth field effects to your photos.
Although the standard S9 won’t get a dual-lens snapper it will have improved photographic capabilities with the firm boasting on a recent invite that it “will showcase the next generation of Galaxy devices that reimagines the camera and redefines the way you share your moments.”
Other features could include better security, via upgraded facial recognition, and the possible inclusion of dual front-facing selfie camera.
WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO BUY ONE?
The S9 and S9+ are likley to go on sale in March.
If you look at previous launches, such as the Galaxy S7, devices generally appear in shops around around three weeks after their official launch date.
Samsung usually gives customers who pre-order a slighly earlier release, so if you want to be the first to own one this is probaby the best option.
