Former TOILET BLOCK sold at auction – you won’t believe for how much

The Cornwall Council building in Hayle, Cornwall, currently has no planning permission, but this did not stop a flurry of bids from interested developers.

Katie Semmens, senior auction valuer, said: “We never get tired of saying this – there is no chain to worry about, particularly if you’re flush with cash.

“Subject to planning consents, there is scope for residential or commercial development, incorporating perhaps upwards extension or total replacement.

“The harbour is partially visible from the property, which is another draw.”

The building had generated “a lot of interest” at auction with “15 to 20 individual bidders” trying their luck for the toilet block.

This is not the first time a lavatory block has hit the market.

Earlier this year, another disused toilet block caused a stir on the property ladder in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
