Fernando Alonso will retire from Formula 1 at the end of his 17th season racing for the championships later this year.

Making the announcement today, the 37-year-old said: “After 17 wonderful years in this amazing sport it’s time for me to make a change and move on.

“I made this decision some months ago and it was a firm one. There are still several grand prix to go this season, and I will take part in them with more commitment and passion than ever.”

It came as Fernando’s Grand Prix opponent Lewis Hamilton took to Instagram today, to share a jaw-dropping topless video with fans.

In the footage, Lewis was spotted modelling sportswear as he backed the brand Puma.

Beside the footage, he penned: “Still I Rise. What’s your Mantra? @pumaperformance #24Seven #PUMAPartner.”
