Emilia Clarke, 32, has spoken out about Kit Harington’s complaints while filming Game of Thrones during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this month. Kit, 32, recently revealed he is not particularly fond of the fur coat that his character Jon Snow has to wear on the HBO series. Emilia appeared to sarcastically dismiss her co-star’s claims when host, Stephen Colbert, discussed Kit’s assertion that he struggles to film in “the worst” climates and outfits in comparison to the rest of the show’s cast. Last month, Kit told Stephen that he wears “40 pounds of fur” for the role and is forced to endure freezing cold temperatures on set.
In spite of his wardrobe issues, Emilia was quick to tease the actor for his admission, commenting: “He does really like to tell everyone that.”
She added: “Kit always complains because he’s always in a very heavy cloak, but he’s got abs!
“So he’s fine, that’s cold weather in Iceland, but there’s short filming hours because there’s only four hours of daylight.”
The actress then continued in an attempt to prove that her filming experience is just as strenuous as Kit’s, as she recalled: “I’m in a quarry in Malta in like 100 degree heat, passing out every single season because I have two sets of hair on my head.
“So Kit is always complaining that he’s got it worse and he’s definitely got it better, he’s drinking by 2pm because there’s only two hours of daylight, we’re in a quarry until like 11pm!”
At an earlier point in the interview, Emilia shared more details about her recently unveiled medical battle with brain haemorrhages.
She told Stephen that she instinctively “knew” that she was suffering with the condition when she dealt with excruciating headaches.
Emilia recalled: “It’s the worst headache that a human could possibly manage to experience.
“I genuinely knew that I was being brain damaged. I don’t know how… because you’re incredibly ill and just have a horrific headache and being violently ill.”
The star went on to explain that she tried to cope with her diagnosis by keeping active in spite of the pain.
She added: “I tried to keep as active as possible.
“I moved my fingers, my toes and hands. I asked myself questions… I really tried to force my memory to work as much as I could to stay conscious.”
Emilia’s battle with brain haemorrhages inspired her to create a charitable organisation last month to help young people access Neurorehabilitation.
Elsewhere, the Game of Thrones favourite set her 19 million Instagram followers into a frenzy by posting a selfie with her co-star and friend Nathalie Emmanuel at the premiere for the highly anticipated final series of the drama.
The gallery of images also featured sweet snaps of Emilia posing alongside her other cast mates.
She captioned the celebratory post with an excited comment: “And then we may have got a little lit… But only because we saw the first goddamn episode and it’s so goddamn good you guys are gonna freak out.
“But really though… freak out.”
Game of Thrones season 8 returns April 14 on HBO in the US, and the next day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
