Chelsea transfer news: Willian makes Maurizio Sarri assessment as he puts saga behind him | Football | Sport

Willian was linked to this summer with Jose Mourinho eager for a reunion.

Barcelona also submitted three bids for the Brazilian, but they were rejected.

Sarri hasn’t concealed his desire to keep hold of the winger who was unfancied when Antonio Conte was in charge.

Willian, who was picked for the International Champions Cup penalty shoot-out win over Lyon at Stamford Bridge last night, is now excited about the new campaign.

And he thinks the Blues have the man to take them forward.

“Of course, I am ready. I have to improve more in the physical aspect but I feel good,” Willian told reporters.

“I felt good today to play around 65 minutes, it was good for me and I am ready to play this season.

“We have to look forward because we have a lot of games this season and we want to win titles.

“He is a great manager, he is an intelligent manager.

“He works a lot and we will try to improve. Of course, we have just started.

“We are right at the beginning but we can do good things this season.”

Chelsea kick off their Premier League campaign away to Huddersfield on Saturday (3pm).
