The former Ukip leader issued a stark warning to Theresa May’s party, saying his newly-formed Brexit Party is ready to contest all 73 seats allocated to the UK in the European Parliament should Britain be trapped in the EU for longer than a few weeks. Theresa May has asked the EU to grant her a second Brexit extension until June 30, but European Council President Donald Tusk is pushing for a 12 month delay, meaning the UK will need to take part in May’s EU elections. Speaking of a conversation he had with a caller during his programme on his LBC radio show, Mr Farage wrote on Twitter: “A caller on LBC told me: ‘That Brexit vote meant a great deal to me, and I think we’ve been stitched up. The cherry on the cake is Theresa May colluding with comrade Corbyn’.
“The Conservative Party are in for a big shock at the ballot box.
“Bring it on.”
The Eurosceptic also branded the Prime Minister’s promises regarding ending the freedom of movement “lies, lies, lies”.
Mrs May has been trying to cut a deal with the Labour Party’s leader in the past few days.
In a video released on Sunday afternoon, the Prime Minister warned her talks with Jeremy Corbyn will require “compromises on both sides”, signalling Britain is heading for a soft Brexit.
However, she said she agrees with the leader of the opposition on ending freedom of movement.
Mr Farage slammed the statement, saying: “In this video, Theresa May says that she agrees with Labour on ending free movement. Lies, lies, lies.
“As Home Secretary she failed to control immigration, and she has failed again as Prime Minister.
“As for Labour, May should ask Diane Abbott where she stands on freedom of movement.”
Mr Farage has been leading the Brexit Party since March, as its founder Catherine Blaiklock was forced to resign after Islamophobic, anti-semitic and homophobic comments she made came to light.
In the past few days, Mr Farage urged his social media followers and party’s supporters to register to his movement, founded in January.
On Friday, he wrote on Twitter: “If you do one thing this morning, please send this to 3 of your friends and ask them to become a registered supporter of the Brexit Party.
“It’s time to save Brexit, and we need your support.”
In a separate message, he warned “the fightback to save Brexit has begun”, after warning Mrs May’s request of a second extension to Article 50 and her attempts to find a way forward over Brexit with Mr Corbyn.
He wrote: “This is an exciting moment. We have arrived at a tipping point.
“The splits affecting the Conservatives and Labour have become so significant they begin to fall apart.
“This process had already begun.”
Mr Farage had already pledged to stand as a candidate for the party in any future European Parliament election to “save Brexit” in February.
He stated again he was “up for it” last week, after MPs in the Commons approved by one vote a bill tabled by Yvette Cooper which rules out a no deal Brexit.
He wrote on Twitter after the vote: “How can a single vote in Parliament supersede the 1.3 million vote majority for Brexit?
“It is now clear we will have to fight our political classes again.
“I’m up for it.”
At the moment the Brexit Party counts nine MEPs, all of whom were originally elected as Ukip candidates in 2014.
