Birmingham news: Horror video shows gang attack traffic warden | UK | News

The chilling video shows the victim screaming ‘What are you doing?’ while bystanders simply filmed the scene on their phones.

The helpless victim was wearing a helmet and a high-vis bright yellow jacket during the attack in College Road in Alum Rock, Birmingham. Police said the attack took place yesterday between 5pm and 5:30pm.

The men attacking the victim were all dressed in black and are shown to repeatedly kick and stamp on the victim as he cowered on the ground.

Detective Sergent Tom Lyons of West Midlands Police said: “I was absolutely furious when I saw the footage. The level of violence used is truly shocking, and I know every right-minded person who views it will share that anger.

“We’ve already spoken to the victim.

“CCTV and other enquiries have already begun, but people in the community will know who these men are.

“I’d urge them to examine their conscience and do the right thing and give us the names.”

The police have said that the victim is recovering in hospital but he does not have any serious injuries.

The video sparked a surge of tweets attacking the thugs on social media.

BUG MIR tweeted: “A motorcyclist has been badly attacked by a gang of bike thieves and his motorcycle stolen. We have to STOP THIS! IT CANNOT CONTINUE LIKE THAT.”

They said that the victim traffic warden was simply “going about his job” when the vile robbery happened.

A man, 20, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident. Police are looking for six more men in relation to the robbery: three who are being treated as suspects, two who they believe can aid the investigation and an unspecified sixth man.

Anyone with information can contact West Midlands Police on 101 anytime or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
