Amy Dowden, 27, has appeared on the BBC series of Strictly Come Dancing since 2017 and is currently headlining her own tour Here Come The Girls alongside co-star Dianne Buswell, 29, and former Strictly pro Chloe Hewitt, 23. Now, the Welsh beauty has spoken out about the exit of Russian dancer Pasha Kovalev, 39, after he took to Twitter in February to announce he will be departing the series. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at the Here Comes The Girls press night, Amy said: “Awww the gentleman Pasha. He danced me down my very first red carpet on Strictly Come Dancing. “He is a true gentleman. Fabulous dancer and he is such a great part of the Strictly family and always will be.
“I was gutted but I wish him all the success. We’ll still be seeing him.”
Pasha exited the BBC show after eight years on Strictly and took to his Twitter account to announce the news saying “it’s time” to leave the show and that he is ready for a “new challenge”.
The Russian-born dancer issued a lengthy statement in view of his 147,000 followers and thanked his “incredible partners” on the series.
He was partnered with Love Island star Caroline Flack in 2014 and former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts last year.
Meanwhile, Amy who is currently performing in a nationwide tour has been confirmed to be appearing in the new series of the hit ballroom show.
The dancer could not contain her excitement when asked about her return to Strictly.
Amy exclaimed: “Yay! Super excited to be back on the best show in the world.”
The star was embroiled in some controversy on last year’s series after it was claimed she and celebrity dance partner Danny John-Jules had a disagreement during rehearsals.
Speaking on the Strictly sister show It Takes Two at the time, she said: “Things did get a little intense the other day in rehearsals.
“But you know what, we got half an hour break and got straight to it.”
Elsewhere, the Strictly pro is currently wowing crowds nationwide as she performs in her dance tour Here Comes The Girls with Dianne and Chloe.
The brunette beauty is also joined by her fiancé and pro-dancer beau Ben Jones.
Speaking about touring with her soon-to-be-husband she divulged: “Going around the country and showing the nation our love for dance and sharing the moment and experience together, I seriously couldn’t wish for anything better.”
Back in 2017, Amy shared a video of Ben proposing to her at a New Year’s Eve party where he got down on one knee in the middle of a dance floor in front of a crowd of companions.
She shared the clip of the special moment with her followers, writing: “Hello 2018,” followed by a ring and heart emoji.
