After it was announced during the recent Facebook Connect event, the brand new Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset is now available to purchase.
A follow-up to the popular Oculus Quest device, the new and improved VR headset has an October 13 release date, so you can head out and buy one right now. We’ve got links further down the page.
The next generation Oculus Quest is smaller and lighter than the original model, and sports a higher resolution. This means games will look crisper and clearer than on the original model.
“The all-in-one, completely wireless Quest 2 has been redesigned to be smaller and lighter than the first-generation headset to ensure the VR experience is seamless for all users,” reads the official description.
“With faster performance and our highest-resolution display ever, Quest 2 will be available for an even lower price of £299, making it the most affordable VR gaming system on the market right now.”
According to Facebook, the Oculus Quest 2 utilises the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Platform, and has can display 50% more pixels than the first generation device.
To celebrate the launch of the Oculus Quest 2, developers have been upgrading their games for the device.
Ten titles have been given upgrades in time for the launch of the device, including the excellent Superhot VR, Real VR Fishing, Phantom Covert Ops, Apex Construct and Gravity Lab. You can read about the other five enhanced games below.
Arizona Sunshine – Grab up-to-3 fellow survivors and venture into post-apocalyptic Arizona with updated visuals and improved Zombie physics as you navigate the Zombie hordes. Developed by Vertigo Games.
Ironlights – This VR dueling game from E McNeill is receiving improved render resolution, enhanced particle system and shading.
Red Matter – New textures and further LOD distances will allow players to further explore and immersive themselves in this story-driven VR puzzle adventure, set during a dystopian Sci-Fi Cold War. Developed by Vertical Robot.
Trover Saves the Universe – Calling all Chairorpians, grab your Power Babies and guide Trover into battle once more while experiencing new crispy visuals, increased resolution, and improved framerate.
Waltz of the Wizard – Experience true magic in this fully interactive, constantly expanding fantasy experience from Aldin Dynamics. Improved fidelity on Quest 2 brings this magical world to life with real-time lights and post-processing for realistic glow effects, more interactive objects and particle effects, increased world detail, and more.
Oculus Quest customers can also pick up the newly released Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Tourist Edition.
A port of the popular PSVR and Oculus Rift game, Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Tourist Edition takes place in New Orleans during the zombie outbreak.

Other new games launching soon include The Climb 2, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, Beat Saber Multiplayer, Jurassic World Aftermath, and Warhammer 40,000 Battle Sister.
