Jet2 holidays: Jet2 cancels further Spain and Cyprus flights due to FCO travel advice | Travel News | Travel

Jet2 have announced today they are cancelling further flights and holidays to both Spain and Cyprus. The move comes as a result of FCO travel advice, the travel firm explained. Jet2 flights and holidays to the two destinations are now postponed to later in August.

Jet2 explained that any affected customers should not reach out to the holiday company themselves.

They will be contacted by the travel firm soon.

“Our programme is constantly being reviewed so some additional changes may occur,” said Jet2.

“Where this is the case we will contact customers directly to discuss options.

DON’T MISS

“We will be in touch as soon as possible, so we urge customers not to contact us.

“We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.”

Cyprus is currently exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel.

However, entry is subject to tough entry restrictions.

The FCO explains: “As of August 1, 2020, the UK is in Cyprus’ Category B: this means that tourists are permitted to travel to Cyprus, but they need to provide a negative test on arrival, obtained within 72 hours before travel.

“On July 31, 2020 The Republic of Cyprus government announced that COVID-test results can be in the form of an email or SMS, but the test result itself and/or appointment letter must include the date and time when the test was taken.

“Children under 12 years old do not require a test in order to travel to Cyprus.”

Travellers will not have to self isolate on their return.

Spain travel is more complicated, however.

The travel advice for the Mediterranean country is as follows: “From July 27, the FCO advise against all non-essential travel to Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks in the country.

“This advice is based on evidence of increases in cases of COVID-19 in several regions, but particularly in Aragon, Navarra and Catalonia (which include the cities of Zaragoza, Pamplona and Barcelona).

“The FCO is not advising those already travelling in Spain to leave at this time.”
