Samsung is clearly taking aim at Apple’s hugely-popular iPad Pro series with the launch of its new Galaxy Tab S7 tablets. With an all-screen design and clever keyboard case that instantaneously transforms this tablet into a lightweight laptop, this latest product could prove a worthy competitor to the brilliant iPad Pro.
In fact, the Samsung Tab S7 has one huge speed advantage over the iPad as Samsung has managed to squeeze 5G technology into this svelte tablet. That means the Galaxy Tab S7 is capable of accessing superfast downloads when away from home. Since 5G offers internet speeds that far outstrip the UK average home broadband connection, this could be a serious boost when trying to file work, video call with friends, or stream boxsets on-the-road.
It’s a tremendous bonus feature and one many iPad Pro fans were hoping to see Apple bring to its tablets when it refreshed the range earlier this year. Unfortunately, Samsung has beaten Apple to it.
Along with that super-speedy network technology, there’s plenty of other nice new features arriving on the Galaxy Tab S7. The device gets a sharp and colourful AMOLED touchscreen display, with the standard model featuring an 11-inch screen and the S7+ getting a larger 12.4-inch panel.
Along with crystal clear visuals, this screen can be switched to a 120Hz mode which will bring a silky smooth experience when scrolling through websites or quickly browsing emails. There’s also a new S Pen stylus that sticks to the rear case and offers a more realistic pen to paper feel with a smooth 9ms latency.
A large fast-charging battery should mean you never run low on juice and there’s a quick processor which will help users power through their daily digital tasks.
And if you want to use the tablet for photography then a dual-lens camera offers both standard and wide-angle shots. And these snappers can also shoot video in full 4K resolution, which you’ll be able to playback and edit instantly on the tablet itself.
One thing to note is that, unlike the iPad Pro’s facial recognition, the Tab S7 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for easy access to the screen.
The Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ 5G will be available in Cosmic Grey and Cosmic Black. The standard Tab S7 model costs from £619 and the 5G Tab S7+ will start from £799.
The new Tab S7 range aren’t the only new products from Samsung with the firm also revealing its latest update to its Note range. The Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra get a faster processor and improved S Pen with the Ultra also receiving a 120Hz display and quad-rear camera with 50X Space Zoom.
If you want some new earbuds then the Korean technology company has also announced its new Buds Live which finally bring noise cancellation to its wireless in-ear headphone range.
Speaking about the devices, Conor Pierce, Corporate Vice President UK & Ireland, Samsung Electronics, said: “Technology has played a vital role in keeping us connected during these unprecedented times. Now more than ever, our customers are looking for products that deliver against this and work seamlessly together.
“Whether it’s through work or play, the ecosystem we have launched today is designed to help you get the most out of life. With our Note20 range and Tab S7+ now powered by 5G, we are not only super-charging the connected experience, but also strengthening Samsung’s 5G leadership in the UK.”
